Antrim Highlights
With falls that provide water power, Great Brook once had over twenty mills from Gregg Lake to the Contoocook River. Cutlery was a major industry in Antrim, starting in 1864 and was manufactured until 1989. This little town also manufactured apple-paring machines. It once was home for Nathaniel Hawthorne College that closed its doors in 1988. Volunteers make up the Parks and Recreation Commission, which takes great care and pride of Shea Field (baseball, softball and soccer fields); Memorial Park, Cam Grove and Mill Pond (tennis courts, basketball fishing, picnicking) as well as Gregg Lake Beach. There is a paddle craft (canoe/kayak) launch area which is also a place where dogs are permitted to swim. A pavilion and picnic tables welcome you to relax and gather. Come and enjoy this lovely NH town!
