Bath Highlights

Situated between the Green Mountains and the White Mountains, with the CT River on its western border, Bath is well-known for its general store, three covered bridges (Bath, Haverhill-Bath, Swift River) and the Ammonoosuc River which runs through it. The Ammonoosuc River supplied water power for industry many years ago and is now frequented to pan for the gold flecks found in its water. The upper village boasts Federal style houses that are on the National Register for Historic places. Mt. Gardner Lone Oak Trail, with its spectacular view of the CT River Valley, is a 1.5 mile steep trail for the adventurous hiker. Campgrounds, fishing and stunning scenery are just a few of the wonderful things to enjoy here. And, then, there is the Brick Store, the famous general store that was built in the early 1800s and is considered the “oldest continuously operating general store in the U.S.” A huge variety of goodies are waiting for you that will certainly reflect “memory lane” and will bring a smile to your face. Many presidential candidates have even stopped by!
