Claremont Highlights

So much history to see and learn about when you arrive in Claremont. The rotary-style town square, which connects Main, Broad and Washington Street, houses war monuments from World War I, II, Korea and Vietnam. The Freedom Garden Memorial, which is dedicated to the victims and families of the September 11 bombing will definitely warm your heart. Two civil war cannons and a Soldier’s Monument stand proudly here as well. The historic bandstand, built in 1890, was redesigned in 1922, and serves primarily as performance space for the Claremont American Band, a community band dating back to the 1800s. The Claremont Opera House, built in 1897, is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. After many years of thriving performances, it was closed in 1963 due to lack of use. A group of citizens worked diligently to raise funds to reopen the iconic building and in May, 1979, the opera house reopened. Twin State Speedway with its racetrack, stadium, arena, and sports venue holds excitement for everyone. Arrowhead Recreation Area offers skiing, tubing and riding. Restaurants are plentiful in Claremont. The Common Man, Taverne on the Square, Sweet Fire BBQ, Kouzoku Japanese Steakhouse are just a few to tempt your tastebuds.
