Danbury Highlights
Incorporated in 1795, Danbury once included the towns of Wilmot and Hill. Many lakes, ponds, parks and forests are here for hiking, swimming, kayaking, boating and picnicking. Gunnison Lake, a 60-acre man-made lake is tucked away along the backside of Mt. Sunapee. It is called “a hidden gem” by residents who have enjoyed it since 1983. The Ruth LeClair Memorial Trail, a gently winding path through plush woods, is filled with numerous trees as it cuts through several stone walls. Two bridges (built by a local Eagle Scout) span Baker Brook and Blood Brook at the easterly end of the lake. Ragged Mountain Resort, a ski resort with a vertical drop of 1,250 feet and spreads across 250 acres of land, offers three terrain parks and many glades. Ragged Mountain has the only six-person chairlift in NH. You will discover The Haunting Whisper Vineyard, a local vineyard which offers information about wine-making. “Warm and Inviting” was used in describing this wonderful establishment. The Danbury Country Store, a local favorite, is filled with everything a New England country store should have -- plus more. Delicious food, friendly and welcoming staff, and even toys will invite you in. Browse and enjoy!
