Plymouth Highlights

Plymouth is a classic New England town, located in the center of the state, and is home to Plymouth State University. Once primarily a teachers college, it is now a state university using a cluster approach to education which is designed “to encourage collaboration and communication in the application of solving problems and innovating for the digital age.” Museums, parks, fountains -- all are nestled in the banks of this delightful town. Plymouth Historic Museum, sharing its exhibits, events, large scale scenes depicting Plymouth’s vibrant community and an impressive collection of history from pioneers to WWII, is definitely something you will want to see. Fox Park and Langdon Park, both offering many trails for walking, mountain biking and hiking will certainly be savored. To cool off on a warm summer day, don’t forget to stop at the Baker River Bridge, a roadside swimming hole with a gorgeous waterfall. Smith Millennium Bridge, a single lane covered bridge that was built in 1850 and destroyed by a fire in 1993, was rebuilt in 2001 and is now considered one of the strongest covered bridges in the world. Always great restaurants, lodging, a wide variety of shops to browse and attractions can be found in this classic New England town.
