With its outdoor exploration of rock formations, Rumney is known by its residents as a “fun loving community.” It is located at the southern edge of the White Mountain Forest. Polar Caves is a family adventure in the Baker River Valley, with nine glacier-made boulder caves, boardwalks to aid in exploration, climbing walls, picnic area, animals to feed, sugaring exhibits and even panning for gems. Lost River Gorge -- another glacier formation with viewing platforms, a meandering stream and lantern tours is here to enjoy. Rattlesnake Mountain and Rumney Rock Climb, is a difficult sport climbing formation where you can also view schist rock (reminiscent of wood) which is a very unusual find. A cluster of cliffs called “Rumney Rocks” will definitely challenge you. There is hiking, kayaking, fishing and numerous outdoor activities everywhere you look. Stinson Lake offers glacier deposits, clear water, boating access, fishing for cold and warm water fish. Numerous campgrounds and a hostel welcome you to get some rest after conquering the rock climbs. The Common Cafe and Tavern, Wright Lodge Restaurant and North Station Diner are waiting to satisfy your hungry appetite.
