Wilton Highlights
Wilton, known for its hiking trails, waterfalls, and natural beauty, is a community revitalized and supported by continual volunteer efforts. The historic town hall, built in 1883, features a long standing movie theatre. It once was home to vaudeville troupes. Once a silent movie house, the theatre continues to offer movies each month. It has been in operation, nearly continuously, since 1912. A walk along Main Street is a delight. There are numerous small businesses ranging from a nostalgic candy store, Nelson’s Candies, where you can watch them make candy; a beautiful library with a rotunda of stained glass and Putnam’s Clothing Store, an old fashioned general-country store where you can find literally anything from “soup to nuts” - - all of which will peak your interest to browse. Frye’s Measure Mill (circa 1858), which is on the historic register, is the manufacturer of gorgeous shaker boxes. It sets upon an exquisite landscape (with a water mill) and is a ‘must-see’ when you visit Wilton. Many discoveries await when you visit this historic town.
