Learn more about Charlestown

As you enter this historic little town, you will be welcomed to Main Street, consisting of 63 buildings that are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Many of the buildings are Federal style, some Greek Revival — all absolutely beautiful. The town center combines residential homes, civic and commercial buildings, and also has many magnificent antique churches. A living outdoor history museum, Fort #4, which was a strategic military site in 1744, is open to the public for tours and reenactments. Also outdoors during warm weather are hiking trails which can be enjoyed in Hubbard State Forest and used as snowmobiling trails during the winter. Charlestown is also the headquarters of the non-profit Conservation Association which is a national leader in youth services and stewardship. A town library, local grocer, a post office and yes, many restaurants (for breakfast/lunch, pizza, or American cuisine), all are available for your needs. Charlestown is a ‘must see’ town that you won’t want to miss. It is stunning!
