Learn more about Derry

Derry, nicknamed Spacetown, honoring astronaut Alan Shepard (the first U.S. astronaut in space) was born here. Once considered a linen and leather center, as well as an excellent area for farming, Derry is a healthy environment with a great school system and ease of life. Robert Frost, the well-known poet, has a national historic landmark here. Taylor Mill State Historic Site (1799) continues to be a working sawmill. To continue concerts for the public, the Tupelo Music Hall Drive-In Experience has taken their fabulous venue outdoors. Derry takes pride in being the home of Pinkerton Academy, a private, non-profit, school of academic excellence, and the largest independent high school in the U.S. Beautiful old buildings, several town parks, water attractions, walking trails, a wide variety of lodging and restaurants, pubs, and ice cream parlors, await your visit.
