Learn more about Dunbarton
Dunbarton is a small, rural town with beautiful mountain views. And, by all calculations, is located in the exact center of New England! The first meetinghouse is now the First Congregational Church, adorned with a gorgeous steeple that mimics the steeple of North Church in Boston, MA. A husband and wife team, Molly and John Stark, lived in Dunbarton. Molly, being an involved revolutionary hero’s wife, nursed her husband’s troops at their home during the smallpox epidemic and throughout the war. She is honored throughout NH and in several other states. John is credited with the NH state motto “Live Free or Die,” which was taken from a famous speech he gave to his troops. You will find miles of hiking trails, many parks and conservation areas in Dunbarton, as well as unique vacation rentals (including a tree top sanctuary)!
