Learn more about Goffstown
Goffstown was incorporated in 1761. A large part of the town was originally covered with valuable timber. Lumbering and fishing were the main occupations of the early settlers. The Piscataquog River, which bisects the main village of Goffstown and was spanned by a covered bridge, provided water power for the industry. Sawmills, grain mills, textile mills, carding machines and a cotton factory were part of that industry. Goffstown Rail Trail spans 7.5 miles for the avid hiker and offers a chance to see wildlife. Goffstown is home to Saint Anselm College (and NH Institute of Politics). A small park with benches, in the center of town, holds a historic stone statue signifying a memorial to those who served in all wars. The Village Trestle, a well-known friendly neighborhood tavern, is a stop you will definitely want to make. Great food, great spirits and great entertainment awaits!!
