Learn more about Groveton

Groveton is a small town that stands between Colebrook and Lancaster. A papermill was once the primary employer but was closed in 2008. History tells us that Groveton got its name from a large grove of maple trees that stood near the railroad station. When the trees were cut down, it was named Grove Town but eventually was changed to Groveton. Sugarloaf Mountain Trailhead, with its 4.4 mile lightly trafficked trails, waits for your hiking pleasure. Groveton Covered Bridge, built in 1852, that crosses over the Ammonoosuc River, is open only to foot traffic after many years of use. In 1964, Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park was opened. With a ¼ mile banked oval track, full racing and go karts, ATV, dirt bikes, and stock racing, you will be thrilled every second. The speedway features weekly racing and RV camping is available for anyone that wants to stay for more than one day.
