Just outside of Meredith, you will find New Hampton, a sweet little town that has 38 square miles of friendliness. You will be warmly welcomed to this historic town that is home to the Lewis Mansion, Gordon-Nash Library, New Hampton Town House, New Hampton Congregational Church and the Dana Meeting House. New Hampton School, a private, highly-rated prep school, established in 1821, offers academic excellence, athletics, arts and much more. Pemigewasset Lake, or “The Pemi River” as residents call it, holds summer camps, has lovely summer cottages and private residences scattered throughout. New Hampton Fish Hatchery, one of the state’s oldest fish hatcheries, was established in 1920 and is a great place to observe the fish release system. Hand-curated moderate hiking trails can be found at George Duncan State Forest. Spectacular views and what people describe as “a nature lover’s dream” is within your reach. Three highly rated restaurants need to be mentioned here: the BBQ Shack and Smokehouse, 104 Diner and Rossi’s. Your tummy will leave smiling.
