Located in Merrimack County, in the central part of NH, is the small town of Salisbury. Often confused with Salisbury, MA, Salisbury NH is very different. It is quaint and quiet. Famous for the house of Daniel Webster’s birth and being represented by a large stone monument commemorating this event, Salisbury is extremely proud of the history of this statesman. Much information can be found regarding Daniel Webster’s childhood. Having gone to Dartmouth College (and known as “Dartmouth’s Favorite Son”) at age 15, his education and future endeavors are forthright. For outdoor enjoyment you will find the Blackwater River, running through Salisbury, which is part of the Merrimack River Watershed. Fishing (brown and rainbow trout), hiking, kayaking, rafting and paddling await the natural beauty of water currents down the river. Campgrounds are also available. Wilmot Trail, Winslow State Park and Rollins State Park are nearby for your total enjoyment of the beautiful outdoors. All of these parks are waiting to be explored any time of the year. Restaurants and lodging are found in nearby towns.
