Learn more about Suncook
Occupied by 19th century factory buildings, which once used the river’s energy for hydropower, the historic Suncook buildings have now been converted for today’s economy. Once home to the Suncook Valley Railroad, which operated northwest to Concord and northeast to Barnstead, the railroad operated on the former Boston and Maine track that was sold to the company. Sadly, in 1952, Suncook Valley Railroad went bankrupt and all tracks were torn up. Two lakes are located in Belknap County which encompasses 402 acres of land. Great fishing here. A dam at one of the lake’s outlets controls the water levels of both lakes. A rural community, with a population of less than 5,000 residents, Suncook is an easy commute to Concord or the Lakes Region. Great restaurants and many outdoor activities can be found here as well.
