Located in the foothills of the Green Mountains, this warm and friendly town is home to many artisans, healers, and herbalists. It has excellent educational institutions, as well as beautiful architecture, stone arch bridges and historical sights. Putney is home to Santa’s Land USA, the Sandglass Puppet Theatre, Next Stage Arts Project of Storytellers, Basketville and the Putney General Store, which was built in 1796, the oldest general store in Vermont. There is hiking, camping, and swimming. Also, concerts galore. Waiting to entice your enjoyment is the West Hill Shop, Putney Winery, Green Mountain Spinnery, Putney Food Cooperative, just to name a few things to see and do. Many restaurants are available with fantastic eating experiences just waiting to tempt your palate. If you want to spend the night, the Hickory Ridge House B&B or the Copper Kettle B&B are here for your comfort, relaxation and enjoyment. Many more options are available as well. Definitely a very eclectic town, enveloped in the scenic Green Mountains of VT. A lovely place to spend a day or two. Or maybe even three!
